Support

We're here to help.

Penova is a solo project. Emails come to a real person and get a real answer — usually within 24 hours.

Email

rudra.ptp.singh@gmail.com. Include your platform (Mac or iPhone), the OS version, the Penova version (visible in the menu bar → Penova → About), and a short description of what you were trying to do. A screenshot helps.

Phone & WhatsApp

For feedback, feature requests, partnerships, or general business queries you'd rather not type out — call or message +91 99563 40651 (or WhatsApp). I'm a solo developer; reasonable hours please (IST), but every message gets a reply.

Common questions

Is Penova really free?

Yes — free forever for individual writers. No trial timer, no watermark, no account, no credit card. The future paid tier is reserved for cloud sync across machines and real-time collaboration for teams. Single-writer use stays free.

How do I install Penova for Mac?

Download the DMG from the homepage, open it, and drag the Penova app into your Applications folder. The first launch verifies the Apple notarization ticket and prompts you to confirm — that's Gatekeeper doing its job.

How does Penova update itself on Mac?

Penova checks for updates automatically once a day via Sparkle (the standard Mac auto-update framework). You can also force a check anytime via Penova → Check for Updates… in the menu bar. Updates are signed and verified before they install.

Where are my scripts stored?

Mac: ~/Library/Containers/com.rudrapratapsingh.penova.mac/Data/Library/Application Support/.
iPhone: in the app's container — Apple's standard sandboxed location. Turn on iCloud device backup in Settings to keep them safe across device restores.

How do I export a script?

Mac: toolbar Export menu → PDF / Final Draft (.fdx) / Fountain.
iPhone: open any project → tap the share icon in the top right → choose your format. Share via Files, Mail, AirDrop, or any cloud.

How do I import an existing screenplay?

Drag any .pdf, .fdx, or .fountain file onto the Penova app icon (Mac) or use the Files picker on iPhone. Penova parses the structure back into scenes, cues, and dialogue. PDF imports work best on industry-format scripts with WGA indents.

Is there a Windows version?

A native Windows version is in development. If you'd use it, please email rudra.ptp.singh@gmail.com with the subject "Windows". We prioritize the port based on demonstrated interest, and you'll be the first to hear when the beta opens. In the meantime, scripts you write on Mac export to Final Draft (.fdx), Fountain, and PDF — fully portable to any Windows screenwriting app a collaborator might be using.

Does Penova work offline?

Yes — fully. Penova never sends your scripts anywhere. Everything lives on your device. Sparkle's update checker is the only outbound network call, and it only fetches a small XML feed.

How do I delete a project?

Mac: right-click a project in the sidebar → Delete. A confirm dialog asks before anything is removed.
iPhone: long-press a project card in the Scripts tab → Delete, or open the project → ⋯ menu → Delete. The project and every episode, scene, and character tied to it are removed.

How do I use Quick Capture (iPhone)?

Tap the microphone icon on the Home screen. The first time, iOS asks for microphone and speech recognition permission. Both run on-device when your iPhone supports it. The locale picker offers English (India / US / UK) and हिन्दी.

Something's broken.

Please email with your platform, OS version, Penova version, and what you were doing when it happened. A screenshot helps a lot. Penova is built by one person — your bug report directly improves the next release.
